Farm to School
We grow, tend, harvest and prepare produce for members of our Vine and Fig community, our neighbors at Lineweaver Apartments and local Waterman Elementary School.
We Deliver by bicycle
Our Vine and Fig mission is to limit the use of fossil fuels as much as possible and that means delivering our produce by bicycle!
We also focus on creating relationships with our closest neighbors. Getting to know each other a little better makes our community stronger and
Radical Roots Farm delivers produce that we combine with our Rocktown Sprouts harvest. All is sorted into bags for families that participate in the Summer Meal Program at Waterman Elementary to take home for the week.
Currently we sort all the produce and assemble 100 bags of delicious vegetables and fruits weekly. Waterman families, we would love to hear your feedback on how you are using your produce!
School gardens are a great way to build knowledge of where our food comes from and how it grows while providing hands-on learning opportunities in real-world math, science and communication skills.
After a field trip to Vine and Fig's Urban Farm where students observe and get their hands dirty while practicing permaculture methods, they may take their new skills back to use in their own school garden.
At Waterman Elementary and THMS's Great Oak Academy we help maintain their school gardens during Covid-19. We help grow and harvest veggies for the Summer Meal Program. Harvested potatoes and garlic from one of the gardens will be
shared with WES families.
